Aηpétu Wašté – Good Day! Here is your weekly newsletter keeping you up to date on my work and a bit of me 🙂

My Work
I’m pumped to share that I just wrapped up a 6 MONTH project! 🎉 I’ll be sharing updates and insights on that soon, so stay tuned! With spring here, my focus shifts to new creations and more specifically, graduation caps!
This is always my busiest season, and I love creating pieces that honor and celebrate these important milestones – I have a few personal caps for fellow Oceti Sakowin oyate but mostly I have orders from across Turtle Island including California, Oklahoma, and Florida. Did you know I manually update my sales map? 😅
Speaking of sales, I’d like to talk to you about how you can uplift Indigenous artists that are extremely helpful and meaningful. Whether it’s through purchases, engagement, or sharing our work – every action makes a difference in sustaining Indigenous creativity and culture. I’ll be diving deeper into this conversation on my socials so follow along on Youtube, Instagram, Facebook, and Threads! (Linked below)

JJ McCarthy donated $10,000 to the American Indian Magnet School in Minnesota and that’s amazing!!! I made a (semi) joke to my fiance who’s a HUGE Vikings fan that maybe their bad luck is becuase they need to be doing more for the tribes and the land in which they share – more actions like this please! Will this be their year? 👀

My Bookshelf
I recently was recommended the book White Fragility: Why it’s so hard for white people to talk about racism by Robin Diangelo who is also a white woman and so far I think it’s great! Especially because it’s written by a white woman – it’s very important for white people to talk about these topics to their “inner circles and spaces” because they have access to conversations and perspectives that BIPOC voices often don’t reach. This helps dismantle defensiveness, creates space for reflection and encourages accountability – all of which she breaks down in the book. Have you read this book or similar books? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Shop Updates
As summer approaches, things tend to slow down – I expect it’s because everyone is out enjoying the sunshine (as they definitely should be!) but staying connected through this newsletter is a great way to keep up with my latest work, commissions, and exclusive offers. I appreciate every bit of support as I continue creating!
Office Updates: I recently made some shifts in my creative space which means more room for new projects and ideally better organization 😅 If you want to see behind-the-scenes looks, follow me on YouTube and Instagram for visual updates as mentioned above! I post every day on threads (my alternative for X which I’ve abandoned for many moons lol).
Thank you for being part of this journey and I can’t wait to share more soon!

A Note to My Readers
Welcome to OyáblečA (Lakota for “spill the beans”) Weekly!
I would like to share an important note about the perspective from which this newsletter is written. As a proud member of the Standing Rock Tribe, I draw heavily on my cultural heritage, traditions, and experiences, therefore the content you’ll find here will predominantly reflect my Lakota viewpoint.
My goal is to offer insights, stories, and information that are deeply rooted in my culture and/or affect my people. I hope to provide a space where our traditions and perspectives are highlighted and respected. While the focus will be primarily Lakota, everyone is welcome to read, learn, and engage with the content!
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Your support means so much to me, and I’m excited to share it with you.
Wóphila (Thank you)!
